NORWALK, Conn. – State and local officials don’t plan to make changes in amusement ride inspections despite an accident at the Norwalk Oyster Festival that injured 18 children, according to a report by The Record Journal.
According to the report, state troopers and the Fire and Explosions Unit inspect all rides before they are opened to the public. A structural engineer also inspects the equipment before the season, The Record Journal reported.
On Sept. 8, a swing ride malfunctioned and lost power at Norwalk’s Oyster Fest, causing minor injuries to many of the children on the ride.
