STAMFORD, Conn. - Police arrested a 17-year-old Norwalk resident Tuesday, suspected of a shooting that took place Monday afternoon near Stamford's Town Center mall, Capt. Richard Conklin said.
The suspect, who name was not released, was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and possession of a pistol without a permit, Conklin said.
According to Conklin here is what happened: The victim, 17, was arguing with another male over a cell phone as they walked through downtown. Near the mall, they walked down a driveway to fight. At some point, a third person got involved and shot the victim, who chased the other two before collapsing by Edith Sherman Drive.
The victim was shot in the right thigh, and was treated and released from Stamford Hospital, he said.
Police are still looking for information on the individual who was arguing with the victim, Conklin said. They are also still searching for the semi-automatic pistol that was used in the incident, he said.
Conklin credited the witnesses that came forward with leading police to the suspect.
