Police Locked Out of Stamford Nursing Facility

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford police and paramedics were locked out of a nursing home in the city Monday night until they agreed to take one of its patients to the hospital, police said.

The Regency Heights of Stamford reported one of its patients had been combative, however upon their arrival, the 81-year-old man in question was sitting peacefully, police said. A social worker told authorities the patient was not taking his medication,  but paramedics deemed the man was not a threat to anyone, police said.

The nursing home then locked the cops, paramedics and the patient out of the facility on Courtland Avenue, police said. So the man was taken to the hospital despite the lack of need, police said.
