Pedestrian Bridge To Be Installed Near Train Station In Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Construction is set to begin on the installation of a pedestrian bridge over Washington Boulevard near the downtown Stamford train station, the state Department of Transportation announced on its website. 

Construction work will occur at Station Place and Washington Boulevard in Stamford between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays.

The project consists of procuring and installing a pedestrian bridge to connect a new development project to the train station platform. The majority of this project will occur during the day, however some nighttime and weekend closures will be required to set the bridge structure.

Construction work is expected to begin with the installation of construction signs during the week of Aug. 12.

Work in the roadway at Station Place and Washington Boulevard will be performed Monday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

DOT Project No. 0301-0149 was awarded to Waters Construction of Bridgeport at a cost of $2,808,899.40 on May 1. Work is scheduled to be completed in April 2014.
