New Leader Named At Stamford Senior Center

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Christina K. Crain, who has has over 15 years of experience working with senior adults, has been appointed president and executive director of the Stamford Senior Center.

She has worked for both nonprofit organizations and a local government.

Crain most recently served as director of programs for the Southwestern Connecticut Agency on Aging for six years. Before that, she served as outreach director for the Norwalk Senior Center. She also worked for the Norwalk Health Department as a community case manager for the elderly.

Crain holds a master of science degree in social work from Columbia University and a bachelor of arts degree with a major in psychology from the University of Connecticut.

Her new role begins June 5. In it, she will oversee all aspects of the Stamford Senior Center.

The center’s mission is to provide programming that will help the city of Stamford’s independent senior adults, 50 years and older and taxpayers/residents in Stamford, be active, healthy and contributing members of the community by providing them with physical exercise, intellectual challenges, socialization, entertainment, and information in and environment that is welcoming, functional and attractive.

She lives in Stratford with her husband, Jack, and their two labs, Ike and Sophie.
