STAMFORD, Conn. A motorcyclist was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m. Monday after crashing into a Nissan Pathfinder on Hope Street. The victim was not wearing a helmet and suffered severe head trauma in the collision, a Stamford Police Department press release said.
Fernando Quintero-Montano, 38, of Stamford, was driving his 1997 Kawasaki Motorcycle at about 7:30 p.m. when he collided with the vehicle driven by Francisco Gaviola, 24, of Norwalk. Stamford Emergency Medical Services took both men to Stamford Hospital. Gaviola was treated for a minor injury and released, the press release said.
The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is conducting the investigation. Excessive speed is being considered as a cause of the crash, the release said.
