TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Officials with Metro-North and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are using social media and technology to aid their investigation as they continue to piece together the facts behind Tuesday night’s crash.
The NTSB has arranged an email account as they seek other witnesses that may have information regarding what took place leading up to the accident that claimed six lives. Meanwhile, Metro-North has set up a hotline for family members to get more information.
Witnesses who have information that could be useful to the NTSB should pass that along to witness@NTSB.gov, where it will be reviewed by officials, who will determine how to best proceed. Family and friends of those affected by the crash can get more information by calling the hotline at 718-361-2402.
After the first full day of the investigation, witnesses are already coming forward with helpful emails, according to NTSB member Ronald Sumwalt.
“We interviewed one witness (on Tuesday) and an engineer, but we’re still looking for other witnesses,” he added. “Some have come through, and we are generating hits (with the email account) that we are following up on.”
