Stamford resident Mary Finnen worked as a nurse more than four decades, caring for patients and addressing their medical needs. She died Dec. 13 at age 86.
Finnen was born July 18, 1924, in Brooklyn. She worked for 45 years as a Veterans Administration nurse, retiring in 1988. She is survived by two sisters, Alice McGowan and her husband, Hugh, of Katonah, N.Y., and Rita Finnen of North Carolina; and a sister-in-law, Ann Finnen of Pennsylvania. She was an aunt to 58 nieces and nephews, who survive her as well. Finnen was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Malachy Finnen. A Mass was celebrated in Stamford on Dec. 17. Finnen was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn.
