Lily Burns, Worked for Stamford Schools

STAMFORD, Conn. — Lily A. Biancardi Burns, 77, of Stamford, died on Dec. 17 at Stamford Hospital. She was born in the city on Feb. 5, 1934.

She was a cafeteria worker for Stamford Public Schools for 18 years until she retired in 2006. She also loved playing bingo and having lunch with friends from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.

Burns is survived by her son, Charles Burns Jr.; daughter Linda Tamborino and her husband, Mario; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Burns Sr., and brothers Victor Biancardi and Ralph Biancardi Jr.

Calling hours will be held at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday for a mass of Christian burial at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Stamford at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations in Burns’ memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital .
