original story: STAMFORD, Conn. — A car fire was causing more than 3 miles of traffic backup early Monday afternoon in Stamford, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The right and center lanes of I-95 southbound are closed between Exits 7 and 6 because of the car fire, DOT said. 

The traffic is congested between Exits 10 and 6, with some delays on the northbound side as well, DOT said. 

The fire was reported just after 1 p.m. It was not clear when the scene would be cleared.
