Hugh Ryan, Postal Employee

A Mass will be celebrated for Hugh Christopher Ryan on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 566 Elm St., Stamford. Ryan, who worked for the U.S. Postal Service, died Monday at age 68 after a brief illness. Ryan was born in Stamford Aug. 16, 1942. He was a student at Saint Mary Parochial School and graduated from the former Stamford Catholic High School, now Trinity Catholic High School. He also attended Fordham University. He enjoyed traveling both within the United States and overseas, and was a devoted fisherman. As a young man he also enjoyed skiing. Ryan was a member of St. Mary Parish and a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 41, in Stamford. He also was a lifetime member of the Norwalk Boat Club.

Survivors include two brothers, three sisters, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased three years ago by a brother. Visitors will be received by the family Thursday at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford, from 4 to 7 p.m.
