Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Forecast For Stamford

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fairfield County that will last through 4 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the warning, a line of severe thunderstorms are coming into the area that are capable of producing hail the size of a quarter.

There is a possibility for continuous cloud cover and strong winds with possible cloud to ground lightning. The service recommends staying indoors during the storm. 

Storms are likely to continue, though not as severe, through Wednesday, with an increased possibility. Another slow moving storm system will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms into the area Wednesday and Thursday. Rain could fall in excess of two inches in an hour and cause urband and small stream flash flooding.
