STAMFORD, Conn. — Dannel Malloy had more to announce than just a new ice rink as he stopped by his hometown of Stamford on Tuesday.
The governor and his wife, Cathy, will be welcoming their first grandchild this fall. The soon-to-be parents are his son Dannel and his wife.
“Dannel is a wonderful name for a boy — or a girl,” the governor said.
Malloy, who was mayor of Stamford for 14 years, made the announcement at the groundbreaking for the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Skating Center and Fountain in Mill River Park in downtown Stamford. The Cohens donated $5 million for the park improvement.
The rink/fountain is slated to be completed next May. The baby will be here sooner — he or she is due to arrive in late September or early October.
