Gas Down 6 Cents In Connecticut, AAA Reports

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Compared to last week, gas prices have dropped 6 cents, continuing their recent decline in Connecticut, according to the AAA Northeast weekly gas survey.

The average gas price is $2.05 per gallon, the survey said. Compared to last month and last year, prices have dropped 14 cents and 32 cents, respectively.

On the national level, the average price is $1.89, down 8 cents compared to last week, 11 cents since last month and 18 cents since last year.

AAA’s weekly survey of prices in Connecticut's four regional areas are:

  • Greater Bridgeport/Stamford: $2.16
  • New Haven/Meriden: $2.03
  • Greater Hartford:$2.02
  • New London/Norwich: $2.02

Connecticut continues to hold steady at 11th place as the state with the highest gas prices. California and Hawaii have the highest gas prices at $2.77 and $2.64, respectively. Oklahoma and Missouri continue to register the lowest prices in the nation at $1.60 and $1.63, respectively.

As of Tuesday, Jan. 19, only 13 states are averaging more than $2 a gallon for gas.
