Foundation Cheers for Award Winners

At the recent Stamford Youth Foundation 2010 Cheer Exhibition held at Stamford High School, an award named for a former athlete honored those who followed him.

Benjamin Gold was a student athlete who died several years ago. His family keeps his memory alive through the foundation, which presents the Benjamin Gold Award to outstanding foundation athletes. It consists of a $100 savings bond and a plaque.

A coach selects the recipient based on leadership, grade point average and contribution to the team. In the foundation's Cheerleading Division, seven girls – one eighth-grader from each Stamford middle school – were chosen.
