Floren Holds Back Richman

Republican State Rep. Livvy Floren retained her 149th District seat Tuesday, holding off a challenge from Democratic businessman Howard Richman. The district includes part of Greenwich. Stamford gave 1,307 votes to Floren and 1,111 to Richman.

During her tenure in the Assembly, Floren has initiated and/or supported legislation and/or grant awards for open space preservation, Fairfield County bus transportation and upgrades and improvements to Stamford's J.M. Wright Vocational Technical School, among other projects. Health-related legislative sponsorships include a law limiting the application of pesticides on the grounds of schools and day care centers.

Floren is a Greenwich resident. She formerly served on the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation and was a member of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting. She also is a former treasurer and current associate member of the Greenwich Republican Town Committee. Married for 43 years, she is the mother of four and grandmother of two.
