First Snowfall Of Year Coats Stamford

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- It didn't quite cover the ground, and it started after dark and ended before the sun came up. But Fairfield County recorded its first snowfall of the season overnight and into early Friday morning.

Newtown reported 2 inches of snow, but Shelton saw only about a half-inch, according to reports from the National Weather Service. Mostly, the white stuff left just a coating on the ground and on cars. Roadways were wet but not slick or icy.

Friday and Saturday will be sunny with a high near 40 degrees, but northwest winds will make it feel like the low 30s, the weather service said.

Not enough snow for you today? A slight chance of more snowfall returns for late Sunday and early Monday, just in time for the new workweek.
