David Sanchez of Bridgeport had no idea that a simple gift would result in a $1,000,000 top prize. Sanchez luckily received the CT Super Draw ticket from one of his employees as a holiday gift.

Sanchez’s ticket number – 193232 – proved to be an exact match to the Jan. 1 top prize winning ticket.

“We found out the ticket was a winner on January 3rd, and had kept it on our fridge,” Sanchez chuckled. “It took us a couple minutes to check it out!”

In fact, Sanchez’s wife called their son for an extra set of eyes. “We woke up our son—to come check the ticket,” Sanchez told Lottery officials. “I think we won the million dollar drawing!” Sanchez said.

The win came at a great time for Sanchez: “My truck died last week, I mean it can still drive in reverse,” he laughed. “We don’t really splurge—we’re just going to pay off some bills.”

Sanchez’s winning CT Super Draw ticket was purchased at Snaxx Plus,  at 336 Ferry Blvd., in Stratford.

The largest winner of the two, Robert Dowd, of Fairfield, won $1,384,816 on a Lotto ticket but declined to speak with lottery officials or the press about his winnings.

He purchased the ticket at 5-O Food Store and Deli on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield.

He cashed in his ticket on Jan. 12.
