Dionna Silas, 24, of Bridgeport, was caught on Main and Fairview Avenue sitting in a running car after midnight shift Officer Phil Norris checked out the car and discovered the wanted woman who originally gave officers a fake ID, said Av Harris, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police Department.

Silas was wanted in connection with a June 2016 motor vehicle crash that killed 43-year-old Luis Batista of Bridgeport.

During her arraignment Wednesday, the judge agreed to reduce her bond from $100,000 to house arrest after her attorney, Robert Berke, successfully argued that she has a 2-year-old daughter at home and that she was a student at a local community college.

Police said Batista, a father of two, was killed on his motorcycle when Silas pulled out of Benham Avenue and hit him. He died the following day.

Her next court hearing is scheduled for March 28.
