David Martin's Mayoral Primary Win Tops This Week's Stamford News

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Here are some of the stories that topped the news in Stamford this week:

  • David Martin won the Democratic mayoral primary and will face Michael Fedele in the November municipal election. Fedele also gained the endorsement of former Gov. M. Jodi Rell. 
  • The Dojo martial arts school in Stamford is partnering with the Wounded Warrior Project for a 5K walk/run on Sunday at Westhill High School to raise money for returning men and women in the military.
  • A 54-year-old Stamford man was arrested on a warrant early Thursday in connection with a pair of burglaries in the city, and officers were combing through evidence to see whether he is possibly responsible for more break-ins, police said.
  • Michael F. DeMaio, 55, of Greenwich was held on $1 million bond after he was charged with criminal attempted murder after bludgeoning his wife with a baseball bat in their home, police said.
