Cuomo Closes I-84 Overnight From Connecticut To Pennsylvania

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Stretches of Interstate 84 and Interstate 87 in New York will be closed to all traffic starting at midnight as a snowstorm sweeping through the region picks up in intensity, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced.

I-84 will be closed from the Pennsylvania state line to the Connecticut state line. I-87 will be closed south of Albany.

The highways were expected to reopen at about 5 a.m., although it was not decided Thursday afternoon.

"Mother Nature is starting the new year showing us who's really in charge," Cuomo said.

Cuomo urged New Yorkers to avoid traveling and stay inside their homes until the worst of the storm has passed.
