original story: NEW CANAAN and STAMFORD, Conn. -- An accident near Exit 35 on the northbound Merritt Parkway at the Stamford/New Canaan border was causing delays Friday afternoon, the Connecticut Department of Transportation reported.
The backups went for at least 2.7 miles between Exits 35 and 36, DOT said. The right lane is closed in the area.
The one-car crash was reported at about 1:35 p.m.
NBC Connecticut reported that a car hit a tree in the area.
No additional information was immediately available.
