  • A Stamford man was charged in a shots fired case Tuesday after police found him hiding near the scene with a handgun nearby. The suspect is accused of walking up to a group of people in the South End and shooting. 
  • Stamford's Republican Town Committee officially endorsed former Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele's run for mayor. 
  • Mayor Michael Pavia swore in Charles Spaulding as the city's chief fire marshal replacing the recently retired Barry Callahan. 
  • West and Cummings beaches were closed after untreated sewage was found in Cummings Pond near Soundview Avenue on Wednesday afternoon. The beaches were reopened Thursday morning. 
  • Board of Finance member and former mayoral candidate David Martin was endorsed by the Stamford Democratic City Committee to run for mayor again. 
  • A Stamford man was hospitalized and had emergency surgery on a blood clot in his brain after being hit with a baseball bat by another man. The suspect has been charged, and the victim has been accused of harassing the suspect and his wife. 
  • Assistant Fire Chief William Smith resigned from the department as he is suspected in a crash that took place Thursday morning at 2:30 a.m. 
  • Throughout the week the city suffered through a heat wave with temperatures above 90 degrees every day.
