STAMFORD, Conn. -- Jennifer A.M. Calder has been named Stamford's new Director of Health.

“I am happy that the selection committee recommended such an impressive candidate like Jennifer,” said Mayor David Martin. “Her extensive background in the public and private sectors and in education shows that she will be able to enhance the excellent work done by our health department and ensure Stamford residents remain healthy and safe. She has worked in areas such as vaccine preventable diseases, outbreak investigation and clinical and regulatory veterinary medicine, as well as on the New York City Bioterrorism Preparedness Plan.

“Protecting the health and safety of Stamford residents is the priority of the Office of Public Safety, Health and Welfare," said Ted Jankowski the director of public safety, health and welfare. "We are fortunate to be able to bring aboard such a highly qualified and talented individual in Dr. Jennifer Calder as Stamford’s Health Director.
