STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford's homeless shelters are seeing large jumps in the numbers of clients seeking a place to stay due to the recent record-cold temperatures, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Some Stamford shelters reportedly saw increases of as much as 45 percent in the last year, with some shelters saying they are overcapacity.

The Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness recently completed a census count of the state's 70 shelters, but the results will not be available for several months, according to the article.
