update: The Merritt Parkway has been reopened and the crash scene is cleared.
STAMFORD, Conn. — The northbound Merritt Parkway was closed Thursday night in Stamford because of a one-car crash, the Department of Transportation said.
The accident, reported at about 8:55 p.m., occurred between Exit 34 for Route 104/Long Ridge Road and Exit 35 for High Ridge Road, DOT said.
The closure was not expected to last for over an hour, DOT said.
Rain and hail were reported Thursday evening in some parts of Fairfield County, but the cause of the crash was not known.
