STAMFORD, Conn. Stamford Police arrested a suspect Thursday in an overnight burglary at Café Oo La La. Dewayne Carey, 51, was arrested at an apartment on Stillwater Avenue in Stamford that he was known to frequent, according to a police department news release.
The first employee to arrive at the café Thursday morning saw that the rear door had been shattered and parts of the inside ransacked, the release said. When managers arrived, they watched video surveillance tapes and identified the burglar as a former employee who was let go about a week ago, police said.
Carey attempted to flee over a rooftop but went back inside when he saw he officers, police said. Officers got to the roof with help from a Stamford Fire & Rescue Ladder truck. The suspect surrendered when a K-9 unit arrived.
Carey was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and interference with police, the release said. He was held on $5,000 bond and will be arraigned Friday.
