GoodCall combined salary, housing affordability, employment opportunities and area amenities to come up with the numbers. The metro areas were compiled by using data from the U,S, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. Census Bureau and Indeed.com.

Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk made the list because of the high salaries, housing prices and thriving job market. Local attorneys average over $141,000 in salary, using just under 11 percent towards rent.

“Recent graduates often flood large cities in search of big salaries,” says GoodCall lead analyst Paul Southerland, Lead Analyst at GoodCall. “Our goal was to find places where lawyers and recent law school graduates could find not only competitive salaries but also a lower cost of living and a solid job market.”

The top metro area in the report was the New York-New Jersey-Jersey City metro area, covering three states.
