STAMFORD, Conn. — The arrest of a suspect Tuesday morning in connection with a possible ambush last month topped the news this week in Stamford. Here is a look at what else took place.

? Commuters had to deal with added traffic on the roads and trains early this week as people had to adjust after a train was derailed in Bridgeport the week before. Trains got back up and going Tuesday afternoon.

? Stamford’s Nagi Osta, owner of Nagi Jewelers, won the People’s Choice Award in the “Dancing With a Stars” fundraiser for Curtain Call last Saturday.

? A Stamford man had his gun permit and gun taken away a few days after getting them after his firearm accidentally went off and hit his neighbor’s house Monday afternoon. The man was cleaning the gun and forgot to take out the round in the chamber when it happened.

? Early Tuesday, police found a suspect in a suspected ambush hiding in a closet in Norwalk. The suspect was wanted in a shooting at a Jeep in Stamford’s South End in April.

? A crane working in Stamford Harbor damaged a boat when the barge it was on collapsed.

? A market on the West Side was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday. No one was injured, but $1,000 in cash was taken.

? A man charged with making bombs at his Stamford home a couple months ago was brought back to Stamford to be charged with possession of child pornography Wednesday. Police found the illicit images while searching his computer for evidence related to the bomb making.

? On Thursday, the U.S. Census Bureau released new population statistics and found that Stamford is now the third largest city in the state with 125,109 people.

? Two teenagers were arrested after trying to steal cellphones in Stamford’s downtown area. One ran from and also assaulted one of the officers, police said. There were two victims, both of whom ultimately kept their phones.
