Anna Maria Welte, Active Volunteer

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday for Anna Maria Welte, a longtime Stamford resident who died Oct. 28 at 76.

She was born Sept. 28, 1934, in Freiburg, Germany, but lived in Stamford most of her adult life, residing here for 48 years.

She adhered to the InterFaith movement and was a committed Christian. Welte volunteered often, lending her time and support to a number of charities, and was active in the German Quartett Club of Norwalk and in the Stamford Turner Lieder Tafel/German-American Club. Cultivating flowers and other plants was a great source of pleasure for her.

Welte is survived by her husband of 52 years, Theodor Welte; children Gabriele Cossuto, Christina Lake, Barbara LoBuglio and Paul Welte; and 10 grandchildren and four siblings.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897, or any charity of the giver's choice.
