The quilt will be auctioned at a fundraiser for the Stamford Museum & Nature Center, said Sonhild Rodney, one of the quilters.
“We have lots of scraps that we use, and they get the quilt,” she said.
Rodney was joined by Doris Ieva and Pia DeLuca on Monday morning at the museum. They meet every Monday at 9 a.m. and work on the quilt until about noon.
This week, they were joined by Laura Lovello, who although she wasn’t quilting, decided to visit Monday morning.
Ieva said it will take them about a year to finish the 76-inch by 88-inch quilt.
A quilt is made up of the top, the colorfully designed part that everyone sees; the middle part that is called the batting; and the third part, the back.
The women said they are always looking for other quilters to join them in their task.
