Frisch had a good run in the show, reaching the eighth episode of the show, which started with 12 contestants. Only five contestants now remain.

Frisch was sent home after a contest in Las Vegas when her team, which included Lenny McNab and Loreal Garvin, lost the competition. The final vote for elimination came down to Frisch and Garvin.

“Sad, but grateful and excited to move forward with my life and see what opportunities are spawned from this incredible experience,’’ Frisch said in an exit interview on the "Food Network Star" website about her elimination.

Frisch, who now lives in Ithaca, N.Y., said she learned a lot during her run on the show.

“I think that the most-surprising thing is that when you feel like you're on top, you get slammed down onto the bottom,’’ she said. “I've had so many days where I felt so great about my performance and my choice of food — I taste my food to make sure it's to my liking. So I think that for someone who's so passionate about food, one of the most-difficult things is having your food be criticized and unappreciated, and I think that this is why this is a competition."

Judge Alton Brown said the judges went back and forth before sending Frisch home.

“Loreal was very uneven,’’ he said. “But her food has been consistently better than Emma’s. And when Loreal is good, I know who she is. … The main thing with Emma is she has been flat for a long time. I think she’s friendly, I think she’s lovely, I think she speaks of food nicely. But I find myself nodding off. I don’t think there’s a star in there.”

Comments on Frisch's exit interview were complimentary. "You got it wrong! Emma was finalist material and so genuine,'' one person wrote. "Loreal is brash and rude. Lenny is over the top and sometimes very fake. 'Food Network' needs 'real people,' not 'characters'!"
