This year Operation Santa will once again be collecting and distributing winter coats and toys for underprivileged children at Benjamin Branklin/P.S. 55 in the Bronx.  In addition to the donation drop off location for Operation Santa, Westy will also provide storage for the donations as well as final delivery via Westy trucks to the school. This drive will run through December 16.

Westy will host the kickoff reception in their grand lobby at 80 Brownhouse Road in Stamford on Nov. 13 at 6 pm. During this reception, ‘Dear Santa’ letters written by the children will be showcased. Guests are welcome to take as many letters as they would like and fulfill the children’s holiday dreams, as well as providing a warm coat, shoes, mittens and a hat. All are encouraged to attend the reception and participate in the program giving these children a much deserved holiday surprise.

The program started with providing Christmas for one kindergarten class of 25 children and has now grown to over 400 students from pre-k through second grade. Donations can be made at Westy Self Storage in Stamford where they will be stored and later delivered to the children.

"It is immensely rewarding to be part of a program that continues to bring a joyful Christmas to so many children, year after year,” said Joe Schweyer, District Director of Westy Self Storage, Stamford location.

“By answering the ‘Dear Santa’ letters, our group effort provides the only Christmas these children will have,” said Kaisa Newhams, founder of Operation Santa. “We are so fortunate to again have Westy as a partner. Without their continued support, we would not be able to expand our effort to include more and more children each year. Westy’s assistance in hosting the kickoff reception, providing a drop off location, as well as secure storage and delivery of the donations, greatly reduces the logistical challenges of the program, thereby allowing us to focus more attention on the children and their needs.”

Westy is open for donation drop off seven days a week. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Call (203) 961-8000 or visit www.westy.com for directions.
