The Greenwich Hospital NICU is where the boys, nearly 12 years ago, spent their first few months of life after their premature birth at 25 weeks and weighing less than 2 pounds each.
The Hulme family — including brother Quinn and parents Daryl and Geoff Hulme — visit the hospital every year, where the nurses and doctors left a lasting impression.
"The boys have a genuine interest in learning about the NICU and what we do here. It reinforces in all of us why we love what we do every day,” said Jeanne VanSciver, perinatal senior coordinator.
"They have become part of our NICU family.”
For the past four years, the boys have donated a portion of their savings to the NICU and brought flowers for the nurses and staff.
Greenwich Hospital’s Level III-A NICU for sick or premature newborns is monitored 24 hours a day by full-time neonatologists, nurse practitioners and specially trained nurses. The NICU contains the most sophisticated and up-to-date equipment to treat babies with special needs.
