Touch-a-Truck Event Pulls Into Stamford Saturday

STAMFORD, Conn. – This Saturday law abiding citizens will have a rare opportunity. They will be able to sit in the back of a Stamford Police car and not be in handcuffs as the police have their first annual Touch-a-Truck event.

"It is important for the community’s youth to have a comfort level knowing that the Stamford Police are approachable should they or their family members ever need our help,” Sergeant Joseph Kennedy said in a press release.

There a wide range of police vehicles including an armored personnel carrier, a patrol car, police motorcycle, emergency services truck and a K-9 unit, the release said.

The Stamford Police Association will host the event at Stamford High School from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A rain date has been scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 25.

The event is free, but donations to the Stamford Police Association will be accepted.
