Stamford's Mojica Wins 1st Place In Stock Market Game

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Bryan Mojica participated in the Stock Market Game program, competing against those from across the state, under the direction of Academy of Information Technology and Engineering business and technology teacher Ray Milo.

Bryan earned first place and will be recognized at The Stock Market Game awards ceremony in Hartford on Thursday, May 22.

Each year, since 1977 the SIFMA Foundation hosts a Stock Market Program as part of an effort to improve financial literacy among students. Hundreds of schools participate in the statewide competition. The students play the Stock Market Game, where they invest a hypothetical $100,000 in listed stocks, bonds and mutual funds, and learn the value of saving and investing as they work together to maximize the return of their portfolio.

According to Melanie Mortimer, executive director of the SIFMA Foundation, “SIFMA Foundation’s Stock Market Game is a transformative program that prepares students for college, career and life. Our students do measurably better on math, economics and personal finance tests. They also learn to work in teams, manage change, monitor and analyze the impact of global business and economic activity, and become smart consumers.”
