Stamford's Franklin Street Works Matches $7,500 Grant Challenge

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Franklin Street Works, a not-for-profit contemporary art space and café in Stamford, has met a $7,500 challenge grant by Fairfield Countys Community Foundation.

The foundation has offered technical and philanthropic support of community-oriented organizations since 1992. Franklin Street Works joins a list of partners in addressing the goals and needs of Fairfield County citizens in creative, relevant ways.

This $7,500 matching grant will provide vital support for Franklin Street Works to build its capacity as a contemporary arts organization that, in only three years, has generated a positive, dynamic impact in the arts locally, regionally, and nationally.

Franklin Street Works provides the region with critically acclaimed contemporary art exhibitions and programming, garnering positive reviews in international publications such as ArtForum online, Art Papers and Hyperallergic. This art space will apply the grant to the continued development of its ambitious, free-to-the-public exhibitions and educational programs.

The Fairfield County Community Foundation grant will allow the space to continue its unique role in the area. There have also been collaborations with dozens of regional partners, including the Avon Theatre, The Stamford Downtown Special Services District, The Stamford Art Association, ArtSpace New Haven, and the Ferguson Library.

This grant will help place Franklin Street Works on a sustainable path moving forward as it diversifies its support in order to continue its work in the region. For more information, visit www.franklinstreetworks.org.

The art space and café at 41 Franklin St. are open to the public on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Thursdays from noon to 7 p.m. Franklin Street Works does not charge for admission during regular gallery hours.
