For children of any age, having divorced parents is difficult, says Stamford pastor Rick Allen. He should know. His own parents were divorced, and he can empathize with youngsters who experience emotions such as disbelief, fear and anger.
Allen devised DivorceCare for Kids , a series of workshops to help children come to grips with their feelings about their dramatically changing family structure. The workshops are for boys and girls ages 4 to 11.
DivorceCare for Kids is a special group that provides a safe and caring place for children to engage in fun-filled activities while learning about divorce and the many changes they may be encountering in their lives, says Allen, campus pastor of Black Rock Church at Long Ridge.
Forgiveness, facing anger and unconditional love are among the topics that will be discussed at the church during 13 weekly, 90-minute sessions. They begin this Friday, March 4, at 7 p.m. The church is located at 455 Old Long Ridge Road.
Adult DivorceCare sessions will take place simultaneously. For more information, contact Allen at (203) 322-6975.
