Marialena Medrano, a psychologist, poet and nationally certified poetry therapist, will lead survivors of sexual violence in four one-hour writing workshops every Saturday.

In her private practice, Medrano has used creative writing as a means to help people reduce stress, cope with pain and raise their level of emotional well-being, according to a press release. She hopes to help workshop participants confront their trauma and achieve self-understanding through writing.

Medrano will use poetry and literature to assist them in finding ways to voice difficult-to-express emotions, according to a press release. At the end of the series, participants will be enriched by a selection of poems that will serve as a steady and indispensable resource in their journey through healing, according to a press release.
