Presented by Energize Connecticut in partnership with Eversource and the United Illuminating Company, the contest invites Connecticut students in grades K-12 to create projects about energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability, according to a press release.
Students in grades K-8 submitted a poster (grades K-2), narrative (grade 3), news article (grade 4), book review (grade 5), essay (grade 6), speech (grade 7) or public service announcement (grade 8) on a variety of energy efficiency and renewable topics, according to a press release.
High school students designed a community-based project to solve an energy-related issue in their community, according to a press release.
Jayne's project was awarded third place in the kindergarten category. She created a poster with an illustration of a house and depicted energy efficient tips that could be performed in each room, according to a press release. She received a $50 Amazon gift card and plaque.
Kiera’s project was awarded second place in the grade 5 category. Kiera wrote a book review on The Lorax by Dr. Seuss that described how the story addresses conserving nature and natural resources, according to a press release. Kiera received a $250 Amazon gift card and plaque.
