Stamford Skater Appears On 'Today' Show

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford’s Lily Brouwer appeared on NBC’s “Today” with the other members of the Skyliners Synchronized Skating Team on Tuesday, a news release said.

“It was a huge thrill to perform on the show, but even more so to perform in Rockefeller Center,” Brouwer said, in the release, adding that she had some pre-demonstration jitters, “I knew I should have fun with it, and then I became more excited than I was nervous.”

The Skyliners will head to Milan this February to represent the U.S in the Spring Cup, and hopes to earn the right to compete in the 2013 World Synchronized Skating Championships in Boston, the release said.

In addition to training and competing with the Skyliners, the 16-year-old maintains a 4.13 grade point average at The Harvey School, in Katonah, N.Y. and plays lacrosse and the harp at the school as well.

“It’s Lily that does all the work and makes all the sacrifice,” Dave Brouwer, Lily’s father and physics teacher at Harvey, said of his daughter’s accomplishments.
