Marc E. Jaffe, an Old Greenwich resident, will manage multiple aspects of the 112-year-old child development organization. He began his stint as CLC interim executive director in February.

“After conducting an extensive search and in consultation with our board members, leadership council and other community leaders, we realized that the strongest candidate was the person at the helm of the organization these last seven months,” CLC Board President Robert Mattis said in a news release.

“Marc’s experience and success with CLC as well as his professional expertise in both the for-profit and nonprofit arenas make him the perfect person to lead our efforts to close the achievement gap among underserved children.”

Jaffe has worked in management and leadership for numerous media, publishing and technological firms, including Rodale Inc. He published the global bestselling book the "South Beach Diet," also building a licensing program around “Men’s Health,” “Prevention” and “Runner’s World.”

Jaffe was one of the founders of the award-winning nonprofit organization Harlem RBI, which serves underprivileged children. He served on the organization’s board of directors for 17 years, including five years as president. Jaffe is still involved as chairman emeritus of the advisory board.

“I am excited to get to work in this permanent capacity to extend awareness for the great work being done at CLC,” Jaffe said in a news release.

“As CEO my goals include strengthening our outreach and engagement with various constituencies, growing our board, extending our creative and comprehensive curriculum, and expanding our fundraising opportunities. Throughout my career I have taken underexploited assets and monetized them. I see CLC in much the same way and look forward to leading the organization to reach its fullest potential.”
