Stamford Nurse At St. Francis Hospital Named Health Care Hero

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Kathy Aries, a Stamford resident and nurse at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center was among health care professionals recently named a ‘Health Care Hero' by the Hartford Business Journal.

The Hartford Business Journal honored eight Connecticut health care professionals for their commitment to helping others during the publication’s annual Health Care Heroes Awards at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford on Tuesday, Dec. 2. “This year’s honorees are truly heroes in the health care industry and phenomenal leaders in their respective fields,” said Joe Zwiebel, founding publisher of the Hartford Business Journal. “We are proud to have these eight fantastic individuals as part of our outstanding health care team in the state of Connecticut.” The 2014 Health Care Heroes are:

  • Kathy Aries, nurse, St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center
  • Albert Lo, director of neuroscience research at the Joyce D. and Andrew J. Mandell Center for Multiple Sclerosis Care at Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, St. Francis Care
  • Lenworth Jacobs, vice president of academic affairs and chief academic officer, Hartford Hospital
  • Claire Dalidowitz, registered dietitian, Connecticut Children's Medical Center
  • Joseph Ofosu, dean, School of Pharmacy, University of St. Joseph
  • Randy Groop, emergency care technician, Bristol Hospital and Health Care Group
  • Jean Weigert, director, breast imaging, The Hospital of Central Connecticut
  • Lois Ehrler, volunteer, St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center
