Stamford Gets Camera Time As Crew Films Holiday Movie

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The crew filming "Love in the Newsroom," an independent movie set at Christmas-time, has been cropping up across Fairfield County — and they were spotted in downtown Fairfield on Monday.

An independent movie dubbed “Love in the Newsroom” is shooting outdoors at the site of the old Fairfield Community Theatre at the Post Road and Unquowa Road in Fairfield on Monday.

Exterior scenes were being filmed at the old Fairfield Community Theatre, a 1920s-era movie house. According to a note from filmmakers, scenes were also shot at Las Vetas and along the sidewalk on Unquowa Road in downtown Fairfield.

The movie is about a pair of newscasters competing for a job at a nationally syndicated morning talk show, the note from filmmakers said. The note was distributed to area residents and businesses to alert them to the filming on Monday.

The film crew was there all day — but there no sightings of the main actors were reported.

The movie reportedly stars Dean Cain of “Lois & Clark” fame, Westport resident Melissa Joan Hart, known for her role as "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," and Jackee Harry, known for sitcoms such as “227” and “Sister, Sister."

Scenes for the movie were also filmed recently in Stamford and Bridgeport.

In Bridgeport, a number of areas were draped in fake snow for the filming, with crews working at the brick building at the corner of State and Main streets, the Main Street entrance to McLevy Green, and the Arcade Mall.
