Stamford Adds Hours At Government Center For Beach Sticker Sales

STAMFORD, Conn. -- In another sign of spring, beach stickers are now required for Stamford residents who are heading to the city's parks along Long Island Sound.

Permits are required to visit Cove Island; Cummings; West Beach; Newman Mills Riverbank Walk; Southfield; and Dorothy Heroy parks from May 1 through Sept. 30. Permits can be purchased at the Stamford Government Center's Cashiering & Permitting Division, 888 Washington Blvd.

From May 4 to June 27, the expanded hours at the office are:

  • 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Mondays to Fridays; and 
  • 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturdays.

To purchase a permit, a resident must present a driver's license as well as a gas, electric or oil bill -- and the registration/name on all of the documents must be the same. Payments can be made by cash, check or Discover, Visa or MasterCard at the Government Center.

The cost of a beach sticker:

  • $25 for Stamford residents with vehicles registered in Stamford;
  • $100 for Stamford residents with vehicles not registered in Stamford;
  • $7 for senior citizen Stamford residents with vehicles registered in Stamford;
  • $25 for senior citizen Stamford residents with vehicles not registered in Stamford; and
  • $225 for a seasonal weekday pass for non-residents. This pass must be purchased in person. No personal checks are accepted. .

Beach stickers can no longer be purchased via mail.
