This site allows the Bridgeport-based college to expand its radiography program, which includes both theory and clinical experiences. The college's new educational site is located at 1351 Washington Blvd. and includes 2,400 square feet of classroom, a radiographic lab, office, and student facilities.

The program's clinical experiences will take place at Stamford Hospital and at select urgent care, Stamford Health System outpatient facilities and physician practices in the surrounding area.

Martha K. Shouldis, president and chief executive officer of St. Vincent's College, welcomed the inaugural class to the Stamford site.

This expansion allows St. Vincent's to play a vital role in meeting the need within Connecticut for associate degree radiographers, which is the minimum requirement for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Connecticut licensure. St. Vincent's College is the only college in southern Fairfield County offering an associate degree program for radiography.

The college also offers a bachelor degree completion program in radiologic sciences that leads to licensure in a number of advanced imaging specialties. Both programs are also convenient to students living in Westchester County.

The Stamford site will provide the same seamless transition from the associate degree in radiography to the bachelor of science in radiologic sciences.

"In partial fulfillment of our mission as a Catholic health care focused college, St. Vincent's College is committed to meeting the need for radiographers in Fairfield and New Haven Counties," said Martin Sbriglio, chief executive officer of Ryders Health Management and chairman of the St. Vincent's College board. "We are pleased to partner with Stamford Hospital to ensure that this need is met in this heavily populated region of the state. St. Vincent's College is thrilled to be at the forefront of preparing the next generation of radiographers."

Space is still available to start this program. New prerequisite and general education courses will be available starting March 2015. Applications are available online at www.stvincentscollege.edu. For more information, call 800-873-1013.
