The organization, formerly called Senior Services of Stamford, raised nearly $60,000 in last year’s tournament to support vital programs and services provided to area seniors, including resources and information on senior issues, the Ride To Wellness Medical Transportation program, individual counseling and an outreach program to prevent homelessness among the aging population.

The day commences with a pre-tournament luncheon and registration at 12:30 p.m. and the tournament begins with a shotgun start at 1:45 p.m. In addition to team awards, golfers will compete for individual prizes in closest to the pin, longest drive and putting contests. Immediately following the tournament players will mingle, vie for special auction and raffle prizes and enjoy a dinner.

“We are excited to build on the success of last year’s tournament,” said Don Case, chairman of the board. “This year’s event honors retired Probate Judge Gerald M. Fox, Jr., who served for 16 years as Judge of Probate in Stamford and contributed significant efforts on behalf of the elderly and residents within the city, where he still resides today.”

“I’ve seen first-hand how SilverSource helps our older residents,” said Judge Fox, Jr. “This organization provides assistance you can’t get anywhere else. When people have nowhere else to turn, SilverSource supports them through tough times. They really help people; they are compassionate and very professional.”

All proceeds from tournament will benefit SilverSource’s Ride to Wellness Medical Transportation Program, a round-trip service available to ambulatory Stamford residents over age 60 who are in need of affordable transportation to keep their scheduled medical appointments.

As a leading resource for older adults, SilverSource, meets the needs of seniors from all walks of life in the greater Stamford area in a spirit of personal caring and concern. In cooperation with other area organizations and agencies, SilverSource strives to enable seniors to live more secure, independent and fulfilled lives.

Foursomes may enter at a cost of $800; individuals may register at a cost of $200. Sponsorship packages are also available to secure the opportunity to play.
