Rotary Club Honors Stamford Man For His Contributions

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford’s Don Richardson is this year’s recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow recognition, the Rotary Club of Stamford announced.

The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.

Some notable recipients of this recognition include  President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, astronaut James Lovell, U.N. Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar, and Dr. Jonas Salk, developer of the polio vaccine. This recognition acknowledges “Service Above Self” and is named after the founder of Rotary.

Richardson has been a member of Rotary since 1981. He has served in many club officer positions, including president. In addition, he has been an active participant in many other community activities. This is the fifth time he has received this recognition.

The Rotary Club of Stamford meets on Tuesdays at 12:15 p.m. at the Stamford Sheraton, 700 Main St. in Stamford.
