Respect Keeps Stamford Husband And Wife Chefs Happy In Kitchen, Home

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Executive Chef Peter Assue and wife, Pastry Chef Tracy Kamperdyk Assue admit it was never part of their plan to work together, yet here they are, 22 years later, and still toiling together at City Limits in White Plains and Stamford.

The two met working at Charlie Palmer in New York City.

They say the secret to being a married couple who works together daily is respect. "While at work I respect that he is the boss but at home and with the kids—it’s my turn to be the boss," said Tracy with a smile. "But in all seriousness, we are both focused on the same goal of providing guests with a great experience and producing quality food that’s consistent at both locations. In that regard, it’s easy for us to work together."

Their advice for other married couples in similar situations? Be respectful and professional.

As for who cooks at home, the parents of three say they take turns. "The kids also enjoy cooking and are completely unaware that they’re food snobs," said Tracy.
