Brave souls with big hearts will have the chance to rappel down 101 Park Place at Harbor Point for the thrill of it and to support local Special Olympics athletes.

The event will kickoff at 9 a.m. Sept. 12 and continue throughout the day. Pre-registration is required and will give participants an opportunity to create a personal fundraising page so their friends, family members and colleagues can sponsor them easily and securely.

Participants will receive a T-shirt and photo of themselves in action. No experience is necessary. An introductory class will be held the day of the event.

The rappelling event is being held to boost awareness about Special Olympics, raise money for its year-round programs and inspire inclusion and respect for people of all abilities.
